ASTM A516 Grade 60 is a boiler / pressure vessel quality of steel plate for use in low to moderate services.

It has improved notch toughness.

A516 GD 60 steel plate is comparable to the P265GH and 430A/B grades.

The A516 / SA516 standard full name “Standard Specification for Pressure Vessel Plates, Carbon Steel, for Moderate- and Lower-Temperature Service”, is widely used by designers and engineers in many market sectors particularly outside of Europe. You may also see the following variations:

ASTM A516 Grade 60N or ASME SA516 Grade 60N (the “N” is added to show that the steel is normalised)

ASTM A516M or ASME SA516M (the “M” indicates that the material is certified in metric units)
