S31277 Stainless Steel Bar
Review
Description
Product Description
S31277 is a super austenitic stainless steel bar characterized by high chromium (25-27%), nickel (30-32%), and molybdenum (6-7%) content with nitrogen enhancement. This premium-grade steel delivers exceptional corrosion resistance in chloride-rich environments, making it ideal for offshore, chemical processing, and desalination industries.
Applications
As round bars, S31277 is extensively used in critical components including subsea valve stems, seawater pump shafts, and heat exchanger fasteners. Its bar form enables precision machining for high-stress marine hardware requiring both mechanical strength and pitting resistance.
Chemical Composition
The optimized composition includes chromium (25-27%) for oxidation resistance, nickel (30-32%) for ductility, molybdenum (6-7%) for crevice corrosion resistance, and controlled nitrogen (0.4-0.5%) for stabilized austenitic structure. Copper (0.8-1.2%) further enhances acid resistance.
Mechanical Properties
Cold-worked S31277 bars demonstrate:
- Tensile strength: 750-900 MPa
- Yield strength: 400 MPa (min)
- Hardness: 28-32 HRC
- Elongation: 40% (typical)
Production Dimensions
Available in diameters ranging from 10mm to 500mm, with standard lengths of 3-6 meters. Custom-cut lengths up to 12 meters can be supplied for large-scale marine projects.
